Effective March 13, 2017 Jillian Dowding is appointed Director of Programs and Promising Practice at Discovery House.
Dowding was most recently the Director of Research Programming for the School of Public Policy at the University of Calgary. She brings to the role 13 years of progressive experience and a successful track record in strategic planning, program design, project and financial management, outcomes measurement, benchmarks and reporting.
“We are delighted that Jillian has accepted the role; she will be a tremendous asset to our team,” said Discovery House Executive Director Monique Auffrey.
“Jillian has proven herself as a strong leader in research, outcomes, data collection and evaluations. This is particularly important with the growing need in the non-profit community to demonstrate the considerable impact of our work.”
As Senior Researcher and Evaluator at The Alex Community Health Centre, Dowding successfully developed and implemented an agency-wide research and evaluation strategy that included program design, data analysis and outcome measurement, project-based collaboration and reporting to demonstrate program success.
Auffrey said in the current economic environment, there is both increased demand for services due to rising domestic violence and competition for funding in the non-profit sector. As a result, Discovery House must be thoughtful and innovative in response.
“We remain fully committed to providing shelter, hope, education and support to families affected by domestic violence,” Auffrey said. “Now more than ever, women and children in Calgary need our help to live lives free of domestic violence. Jillian will help us align programs, resources and evaluation to deliver on our mandate.”
