Volunteer

The achievement of the mission of Discovery House is best served by the active participation of citizens of the community. Volunteers are a valuable resource to Discovery House, its staff, and its clients. To this end, Discovery House accepts and encourages the involvement of volunteers at all levels of the agency within appropriate programs and activities.

Volunteers are recruited for a variety of different activities at Discovery House. Prior to being assigned or appointed to a position, all volunteers will be interviewed to determine their suitability for and interest in volunteering. A criminal record and child welfare check must be completed prior to the volunteer beginning his/her duties. Volunteers receive orientation and training to help them in their work at Discovery House and to enhance their professional development portfolio.
